More winter work, as we didn’t get to fly last weekend – and it was sooo cold you didn’t really want to anyway – I got around to mounting my cooling fan for my GRT display units. On some hot (like mid 90 degree and higher, with high humidity) summer flights, like up to see Carlos in Grand Rapids, the screens would occasionally overheat and reboot. That’s very annoying, especially since some equipment is only hooked to one of the display units, such as the RAIM GPS and Radenna ADS-B in unit, so when that unit reboots you loose that feature. I don’t like flying in “dead reckoning” mode. 🙂 That is somewhat resolved by the purchase of the 650 GPS unit, but it’s poor form, and I want to resolve it. Hopefully this will be the fix, but we won’t really know until next summer. Check it out here.
