Here’s some base information about our home (away from home). First off, it’s a public airport, at 898′ MSL, 3 miles north west of Lebanon (39-27-43.8230N / 084-15-06.6497W), with one 65′ wide north-south runway (1/19). It’s just north of Mason (about 7 miles from my house) in the Dayton FSS region, and is a bit closer to Dayton that Cincinnati. It’s nice for us since we work in Cincinnati, but Elizabeth’s family is in north Dayton.
We’re very close to the King’s Island Amusement Park and the Beach Water Park. The airport has it’s own skydiving operation, SkyDiveWarrenCounty. Also nearby is great canoeing at Morgans, and excellent cycling with over 70 miles of ‘rail-to-trail’ paved trails – both along the scenic Little Miami River. Oh, and there’s supposed to be some decent golfing, but I can only afford one expensive hobby.
If you’re here in the area late July, there’s the Dayton Airshow (one of the best), and the Labor Day fireworks on the river, along with RiverFest and Tall Stacks (every 3 years, next in October 2012).
