As I write this Elizabeth are beginning the next phase of our aviation experience, taking on partners. As folks know, we’ve had our Velocity, Victor Fox, up for sale for right at a year. There has been on-again, off-again interest here and there, but we’re in an awkward place in the market. We’re close to the high end, a very nice fixed gear, but it’s not a retract (or the ever-popular XL/RG-5) nor an award winner. Buyers tend to be on one end or the other, either they want a RG-5 with 350HP Continental motor, or they want the cheapest standard clamshell that will fly. We even had one person ask us about converting to a RG dash-5. Well…. I suppose anything is technically possible…..
Anyway, a couple of months back we were talking with some of our friends about possible strategies that would be good for us and them. They’re building, but still a ways from flying, but doing more and more business out of town. They’d just sold a Mooney they had with a local partner that they’d had an unsatisfactory experience with, and were looking for something faster, possibly a Velocity. I told them I’d make them a good deal. Then, I think, I did.
They’ll buy the majority share of our airplane, and we’ll extract some of our equity. They get a great flying airplane for less than buying it outright, and we eliminate a lot of expense that we can’t justify for the amount we fly – and it’s better for the Fox, airplanes want to be flown. She’ll be moving from Lebanon to Dayton Wright Brothers.
