Now that we’re comfortable with the new prop we’d like to revisit our gross weight testing. Before we weren’t happy with the acceleration fully loaded with the Catto and decided to derate the gross weight of our plane until we upgraded to a constant speed prop. She accelerates great now, and we’d like to increase the gross towards the factory figure 3,100 lbs. Beth, Jerry, and Linda were going out to work on this while I was getting some training time in the Warrior. Unfortunately they ran into a vibration on the right main gear and had to cut the session short. The vibration was repeatable with just a fast taxi, and quick investigation didn’t really explain it, so we had to ground the airplane until we could do more extensive troubleshooting. Unfortunately tomorrow is Funday Sunday, one of the big local fly-ins, and it happens to be hosted partially by a local Velocity builder/flyer friend of ours, Bill Stockman. This will be like the 10th year in a row we didn’t fly over. Very disappointing.
