My check ride has been scheduled for next weekend, so I decided to go out and make sure I wasn’t getting rusty with Pete. It was really cold and we had to use a gas heater to get wings defrosted, but otherwise it was a gorgeous day to fly. We flew down to Lunken to check the VOR, and then did some PTS maneuvers on the way back to Lebanon. I think Pete was expecting me to lose track of were we where, because when he pulled my power for my simulated engine out emergency, I was within about 3 miles of the airport with plenty of altitude, so I just declared my simulated emergency and put it on the runway! All an all it was a very good flight, though it’s been a bit since I talked to towered airport, and so some of my read-backs were sub-par, but hey, that comes with practice. If all goes well, and weather permitting, I’ll be a pilot at the end of next weekend.
