Another lesson tonight, and we focused on short field and soft field operations mostly, although we did do some slow flight and stalls to try an sharpen my skills after the long break. Overall my flying is OK, though I do need to be sharper on roundout and landing. I still flare a little too soon or let the airplane balloon a little, and the short field landings are helping me focus on that. On short field take-offs I’m having a little trouble controlling the airplane precisely as it transitions into flight and keeping it in ground effect. We’ll try that again on Thursday night. Meantime we’re planning on doing a longish cross-country to Columbus on Saturday. Oh, and apparently I didn’t get my audio plugged in correctly, so although I recorded the flight, all you could hear was the engine. 🙁
