Today Pete and I did pattern work. My medical is off getting processed in Oklahoma City, and probably won’t be granted for another couple of weeks, but he thinks I’m nearly ready to solo, so he wants to get me good and ready. I’m struggling a bit with the sight picture at Blue Ash. The runway is shorter, narrower, and less well marked than my home field. It also doesn’t have any overrun areas on the ends, and there’s “stuff” – trees and roads and things – up against both ends. It makes me feel like I’m too low, even though I can see that I’m my aim point is too high. My approaches back home at Lebanon are a lot better. It’s just something I need to work on.
