Today Pete and I both had things we wanted to pick up from Sporty’s Pilot shop, and since it’s local (at the Clermont County Airport), we decided we’d fly down there today and pick it up before they closed at 6. So, off we went, fat, dumb, and happy. As we setup for the downwind I asked Pete, “why are all of those vehicles next to the taxiway?”, just as my call for the overhead crosswind was answered with “Clermont County is closed for repaving”. Wow… If it’d been a longer flight we’d have gotten a briefing… how embarrassing. Oh well, so a quick trip into Lunken for a touch-n-go, a few stalls and steep turns later (that I did pretty well on), and we were back into our beloved I68 (following the 042 radial from CVGs VOR!). Not a bad flight, but I guess I’ll be paying the shipping, I’m not driving down there…
