I only lack a handful of solo hours to be eligible for the private pilot exam, so I’m trying to work them off. Unfortunately it’s dark so early here now during the week it’s really not possible to do solo work on a week day. So this weekend I planned to get 2 flights in of about an hour and a half each. Tomorrow is iffy, though, with winds predicted, so I wanted to get some quality time in today if I could. I got out about 9:30, a later start than I wanted to, and after doing an hour in the practice area, I dialed up the AWOS at Warren County. Winds were 210 at 12 kts with gusts to 20. That’s more or less down the runway, but as a student pilot, I didn’t want them veering too far away from the runway heading, or getting much stronger so I headed back. I’ll try to get out earlier tomorrow to avoid the higher winds if possible. I took some video, but YouTube is being weird with my long HD videos, and doesn’t show the beginning of the flights, and the audio is often not in sync. Odd.
