Today I started the path to getting my certificate, with a first flight with a new instructor. Attached is my current flight log, including the 43 odd hours I accumulated in 2001-2002 as we were preparing to buy our kit. During that time I solo’ed and did some cross country work before realizing that I would not have the time and money to build and get my license at the same time.
I’ll be starting again in a new airplane, the Piper Warrior, which mimics the Velocity better than the Cessna when you do no-flap approaches. I’m going to do my private in a conventional aircraft and then transition into the Velocity so I don’t learn any bad habits (the Velocity doesn’t suffer from prop wash, so no rudder is typically needed on climb out, for instance), and then hopefully do my instrument work in the Fox.
