As predicted the winds today were not good. I got to the airport early, about 8, so I could get as much flight time as possible, but unfortunately the owner took the keys home the night before, and since I wasn’t scheduled until 9 am, I lost 30-45 minutes. I did get up, though, and spent some time practicing to the East of the airport. The air was pretty smooth at 3,000 ft, but the wind was pretty brisk. At one point ForeFlight was reporting my groundspeed as 54 kts while my airspeed was just over 90 kias! I checked the AWOS periodically, and although it was mostly down the runway, when was 14 gusting to 21 I decided I’d best head back. Sadly I’m booked solid next weekend, so it’ll probably be 2 weeks before I get back in the airplane, and with that likely Christmas before I try to take the test, but I’m moving along. I was very pleased, for example, with how well I managed the gusty conditions. Here’s the audio. I didn’t set up the camera to save time.
